Mechanical Engineer: Quantico

JOB DUTIES:

Performs advanced engineering work in the design, evaluation, planning, testing and operation of electronic and mechanical equipment and systems for commercial, government, military and/or scientific uses to include the design and application of advanced composite structures/materials for Marine Corps Armor and Fire Support Systems Program Office. Directs various tests and analyzes and documents results. Identifies, documents, and evaluates for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System's functional requirements. Conducts independent technical investigations and provides impact assessments and design recommendations to the client. Provides engineering subject matter expertise to assigned clients, and may also advise other internal groups. Reviews, writes, and provides updates to technical documentation and provides quality assurance and review of technical reports and documentation written by other engineers. Able to resolve structural and shock design issues, manufacturing and production issues, and ballistic design issues. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced engineers and other technical staff, and may have supervisory responsibilities. Serves as technical team or task lead. Recommends major changes in procedures or objectives. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned. Participates in special projects as required.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

? Requires 10 years of related engineering experience. Master?s Degree preferred in Engineering or a related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience.

? Mechanical, Production and/or Industrial Engineering License may be required, depending on job assignment

? Knowledge of manufacturing and industrial engineering principles, methods, and techniques

? Knowledge of composite modeling and simulation for ballistic protection, related tools, equipment, hardware, and software

? Knowledge of the design and application of advanced composite materials/structures.

? Knowledge of validation and verification processes of non-standard equipment is an advantage

? Ability to provide leadership to assigned tasks

? This position requires moderate travel within CONUS (2-4 day trips) as well as the possibility of OCONUS travel (10-14 day trips).
