Mechanical Engineer - Sr. Specialist

Rolls-Royce is pleased to announce an opening for a Mechanical Engineer, Sr. Specialist in our Indianapolis, Indiana facility.

The successful candidate will: Plans, performs, and directs design activities for gas turbine engines especially in the area of the production support for gas turbine transmission and structures such as shafts, gears, splines and clutches. Performs engineering design work in support of product improvement relative to production durability issues. Facilitates teamwork between many disciplines i.e., manufacturing, quality, engineering, etc. Communicates technical and business results via reports and presentations.

A Bachelor's of Science and a minimum of 5 years of experience in technical engineering is required.
A Degree in mechanical engineering and aerospace industry experience is preferred. Must have a high level of analytical ability to deal with challenging engineering problems. Needs good command of the English language for communication in both written and oral presentations. Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment. Must be motivated to accept responsibility and accomplish results for the customer.

Technical Skill Preference:
Experience with detailed spline design. Experience with hand stress calculations on rotating parts. Experience with surface hardened parts (nitrided, carburized etc.). Experience with repair coatings and processes.  Also experience with shaft manufacturing processes.
