The Position

 

Reporting directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Staff Mechanical Engineer is responsible for working with, and leading, a group of Mechanical Engineers, Designers, and Drafters in the successful launch of new products, projects, and processes central to the success of the North American R&D organization and FEI.  The Staff Mechanical Engineer will be a valuable member of the New Products team and will work closely with this cross functional group to ensure its success.

 

Specific Deliverables associated with this opportunity include:

 

Working in a cross functional engineering team to design, integrate and improve mechanical components and subsystems for semiconductor, data storage and MEMS capital equipment systems.

 

Act as the subject matter expert for precision mechanical components and assemblies, providing key technical feedback and decision making.



Position Requirements

 

This position is ideal for an adaptive, ?hands-on? Staff level Mechanical Engineer who can easily transition from one project to the next with little or no direct supervision.  Ideal candidate must have a proven track record of leading and completing projects with a high level of innovation, quality and efficiency. The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

 

BS in Mechanical Engineering required.  MS and Ph?D preferred. 

 

10+ years experience as a Mechanical Engineer is required, preferably in the design and manufacture of Complex Systems and/or Capital Equipment.

 

Precision mechanism design, integration, error budgeting, and analysis required.  Must have demonstrated and documented ability in this area.

 

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Modeling, thermal analysis, vacuum, high precision stage design, vibration analysis, FMEA, DFMA and motion control experience preferred.

 

A strong materials background with experience in vacuum and charge dissipation is strongly desired.

 

Unigraphics NX, Teamcenter PDM, MathCad, and Matlab desirable.
