Mechanical Engineer with CNC Experience

Mechanical Engineer, Southern Tier, NY

 

Spherion currently has an opportunity available with a great client in the Southern Tier of NY.  We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with CNC Experience.  This candidate's primary responsibility will be to work on the shop floor, with machine operators, supervisors and manufacturing engineers in both the turn and grind departments of the company. This candidate will solve technical issues as they arise and follow through with documentation to insure the problem is solved so the next time the process will be capable and issues will not reoccur.  This candidate should have a strong parts processing ability and be able to develop routings and manufacturing processes that result in component part production to blue print specifications. They will typically start with parts in the turn departments, follow them thru heat treat and ultimately be responsible for processes that produce ground component parts to tolerances within .0004". Requirements
BSME
Knowledge of metal working machines and manufacturing processes
CNC programming (lathe experience preferred)
Set up of machines and the ability to run them
Knowledge of lathe tooling and index able inserts
Knowledge of surface, OD & ID grinding
General computer abilities (excel & word & AS400 Mapic's)
Ability to read prints
Ability to use measuring devices to close tolerances
Ability to work closely with both hourly and salaried personnel.
Take instructions from current manufacturing engineers and supervisors
Train hourly employees on machine operations
