We have an exciting opportunity in our Thermal Media group for a mechanical engineer to design, analyze, and improve mechanical controls for production equipment such as thermal coating and slitting machines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:Communicate with machine manufacturers, vendors and Ricoh Japan to exchange technical information related to machine operation, troubleshooting, spare parts requirements, and other pertinent information. Track and troubleshoot machine down time caused by mechanical problems and recommend improvement. Establish, monitor and evaluate TPM (total preventive maintenance) process for mechanical components and systems. Define and write preventative maintenance schedules, analyze equipment failures and develop/implement a TPM plan as needed. Train Thermal Maintenance Group (TMG) maintenance staff for troubleshooting and repairs on mechanical component and system operation. Develop spare parts requirements and maintain inventory. Evaluate mechanical components and systems to propose alternative spare parts or updating aging parts. Recommend designs or modify existing mechanical component or system for improvement of machine capacity. Design, develop, modify and evaluate mechanical components and/or systems. Responsible for equipment performance defined by pre-established measurements. Evaluate, select and order equipment that is most appropriate and cost effective to manufacture thermal media products. Select components and equipment based on analysis of specification and reliability. Oversee the installation, modification, upgrade and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. Maintain current records on equipment manufacturers? technical notices, upgrade and safety issues Evaluate equipment performance and reliability and recommend improvements. Establish programs and solutions for increasing uptime and reducing equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process. Provide technical support to the manufacturing equipment repair and process-engineering organizations (i.e. write specifications). Determine design approaches and parameters. Analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests and evaluate results. May review vendor capability to support product development.

QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering plus minimum of 2 years industrial CAD experience designing and modifying mechanical parts. Experience using CAD required. Intermediate skills in Excel and Word. Good organizational, detail oriented, and analytical skills required. Ability to work unscheduled time if needed. May be exposed to moderate noise, heat, some chemicals. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. and occasional exposure to loud noises.
