Position Description:
Chevron Energy Technology Company (ETC) is accepting online applications through December 31, 2006 for multiple positions of Mechanical (Rotating Equipment) Engineers (0606-50155360) in our Energy Technology and International Exploration and Production companies. These positions are located Houston, TX and in various international locations including Nigeria, Angola, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia/PNZ, Indonesia, Latin America etc. Chevron is a significant producer of oil and gas in many countries around the world including Angola, Nigeria, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, and Venezuela. The positions offered include residential overseas, rotational (or 28-28), and positions in Houston, Texas. In some positions, especially where knowledge of Chevron processes or software is critical, an assignment with Chevron International may include a short assignment in Houston prior to the overseas assignment.
The rotating equipment function provides engineering expertise for scoping, applying, designing, commissioning, operating, and maintaining rotating and reciprocating equipment. For new installations or upgrades, this includes concept development, cost analysis, application, selection, specification, bid analysis, standards preparation and review, inspection, and testing. Rotating equipment operations and maintenance support can include field commissioning & start-up, troubleshooting, RCA, re-rating equipment and machinery-reliability programs.

- Interpersonal and Teamwork Skills: Self starter with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross functional, multinational team.
- Demonstrated project management skills. Experience in managing multiple small to major capital projects.
SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS/INFORMATION:
- Bachelor?s degree required (B. S. in Mechanical Engineering). Master?s preferred.
- P. E. preferred

- Positions require extensive travel and/or relocation to multiple international locations.
- For jobs that will be located outside of Houston, Texas, the candidate will be required to spend a minimum of two weeks in Houston for on boarding with ETC personnel.

- Leadership & Teamwork: Ability to effectively manage or actively support the work team in a diverse, multidisciplinary group. Ability to maintain positive relationships with peers, contractors, supervisors, and customers.
- Project Management: Demonstrated project management skills. Wide experience in managing multiple small to medium-sized projects.
- Technical Competence: Demonstrated experience with rotating equipment in a refinery, or complex oil, gas production facility, onshore or offshore. Demonstrated knowledge of design theory, equipment sizing and selection, design specifications, industry standards, monitoring, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and repair methods for pumps, centrifugal compressors and gas turbine driven power generators and ancillary systems.
- Technical Competence: Ability to design, specify, modify and repair rotating equipment. Extensive familiarity with internationally recognized Codes and Standards associated with the subject equipment.
