Mechanical Test Engineer

Schindler Elevator Corporation designs, manufactures, installs, modernizes and services a broad range of elevators, escalators and moving walks for various people-moving applications.  The company is the North American operation of the Swiss-based Schindler Group, the world?s largest escalator manufacturer and the second largest elevator manufacturer.

 

We currently have an opportunity for a Mechanical Test Engineer in our North American Research and Development Center located in Randolph, NJ.  The Mechanical Test Engineer performs the Qualification Process for the mechanical portion of elevator systems and subcomponents.

 

Responsibilities:

 Create qualification test plans according to the design and generic test specificationsDevelop test schedules based on project milestonesPrepare equipment used to qualify elevator systems and subcomponentsSet-up and use various test measurement and data acquisition equipment such chart recorders, load cells, digital/analog readouts, etc.  Maintain the existing mechanical testing infrastructure and develop custom apparatus as required to accommodate new testing needs  Serve as proxy to the mechanical test leader 

 

Qualifications:B.S. in Mechanical Engineering2 - 5 years experience working in an environment with formal test methods and processes, preferably in the elevator industry  Experienced with operating PLCs, a broad range of measurement transducers and in developing custom mechanical test rigs
