Mechnical Engineer (Pro-E, DoD project)

Mechanical Engineer - MUST be U.S. Citizen with DoD / Defense project experience

 

Candidates must have the following skills and/or experience:

? BS (or higher) in Engineering from an accredited institution.  BSME desirable.

? Proven analysis skills and experience performing preliminary hand calculations for structures, linkages and/or power transmission.

? Proven ability to develop working designs.

? Strong Pro/E (v21 or higher) solid modeling and drawing skills, with experience generating and working with large assemblies.

 

Preferred candidates will have the following skills and related work experience:

? Experience working on large caliber weapon systems for the Department of Defense.

? A good understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standards.

? A sound analysis foundation, with demonstrated experience performing preliminary hand calculations to size welded structures, linkage systems, and power transmission components - motors, gears/gearboxes, brakes, and chains.

? Working knowledge of how to apply complex tools for dynamic analysis, including NASTRAN and ABAQUS.

? Experience designing equipment for high shock (> 50 g) and salt-fog environments.

? Familiarity with military and NAVSEA specifications.  Including MIL-S-901D and MIL-STD-810F.

? A solid understanding of practical manufacturing methods, to include:  Machine types/uses and typical capabilities, establishing realistic tolerances for large and small structures, selecting materials and coatings for high stress/wear and corrosive environments, and knowledge of ANSI/AWS D1 weld standards.

? Experience working with closed loop servo control systems for accurate positioning of equipment, and application of associated feedback sensors (load/commutating resolvers and proximity switches).

? An understanding of the fundamentals of AC-DC power conversion and transmission and the electrical components used.

? Ability to effectively use standard MS Office tools, including developing Excel spreadsheets and using Word and Power-point.

? Good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively generate and make presentations to small groups.

? A flexible and positive work attitude.
