Media Solutions Engineer

(Include Position Number MON01)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Service and Support: Provide excellent customer service and support that is both professional and timely and places the needs of the learner first. Respond to service calls in classrooms.Provide maintenance support for classroom multimedia equipment.Make necessary repairs of failed classroom equipment or systems.Make arrangements to send out failed equipment for repair when necessary.Maintain inventory of classroom equipment and systems.Maintain a documented stock of commonly used parts and supplies.Maintain documented preventative maintenance schedules.Keep system firmware and software at the most current version.Support of ?media events? requests as assigned.Assist with maintenance of television studio equipment and systems.Assist with production-engineering services.Maintain, install or upgrade specialty sound/audio/video equipment and systems.

 

Solutions: Maintain an awareness of new technologies that will support the College?s Vision for a ?learner centered? institution.Make recommendations for equipment replacement and system upgrades.Evaluate new technology, provide analysis and evaluation relative to how they apply to our operation and assist or lead in their implementation.

 

Process and Documentation: Document service and support processes and activities to establish standards and set expectations for customer service.Work closely with customers, staff and leaders within the Learning Resources and Technology Solutions Division to create processes assuring expectations are met in terms of responsiveness, accurate communication of information, timelines, quality and services, assuring overall customer satisfaction.Keep system manuals, drawings, software and supplies organized in a neat/orderly manner.

 

Collaboration: Learner Resources and Technology Solutions Team members must effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in providing learners with comprehensive technology support.  Specifically, team members must integrate collaboration with each other and with representatives from the Learning Academy, Learning Commons, Enterprise and Solutions units into routine operations and daily functions.Willing to work a ?flexible? schedule which may include occasional nights and weekendsKeep work area neat and orderly.

 

Continuous Improvement: Pursue continuing education keeping pace with job related certifications and changing and evolving job responsibilities, and staying informed of issues facing the College and the community it serves.Attend training courses relating to repair and maintenance of related equipment and systems.Stay current with industry advances and innovations through journals, seminars, workshops, tradeshows, and supplier representatives.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

? Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent in Electronics, Broadcast Engineering or related field.  FCC license background is also preferred.

? Minimum of 5 years successful work experience in technical support environment for television/multimedia systems.

? Training and working knowledge with high definition video systems and standards. Windows and Apple applications.  Specifically, MS Word, Excel, Access, e-mail.

? Training and working knowledge of distance learning delivery technologies including analog and digital satellite downlink and their operations, CODEC, fiber optic and I.P. based delivery systems.

? Strong computer skills with a good understanding of IP, streaming and other ?network? based video delivery methods.

? The ability to design and install video/audio network systems and provide system schematic diagrams.

? Analytical and problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot RF CATV/CCTV and fiber optic signal distribution systems, and ability to read and troubleshoot electronic circuits using schematic diagrams, using industry proven television engineering practices and methods.

? Excellent interpersonal and phone skills with ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, to assist students and staff in a professional manner.

? Experience tutoring/teaching adult students.

? Demonstrated ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships and to effectively work as a member of a team.

? Ability and willingness to acquire and maintain technology certifications and keep up-to-date professional/technical skills research and implement new technologies used in the industry related to the college?s support requirements.

? Ability to handle multiple priorities, and solve engineering problems quickly in a high stress situation.

? Successful experience working with diverse populations.

? Ability to transport equipment to non-traditional areas.
