Metallurgy Manager

General Description of Normal Duties: Supervise the Metallurgical Laboratory performing daily metallurgical testing as required.

Write and maintain Material Standards (MS) database for ordering steel.

Manage subcontractors PPAP submissions and coordinate with the respective plant QA Manager.

Write and maintain QCP documents for outside heat treating.

Prepare Metallurgical Lab Reports on non-conforming product received from suppliers.

Prepare Metallurgical Lab Reports for PPAP submissions.

Perform Metallurgical Analysis on non-conforming product return from the customer when applicable.

Visit customers as needed to handle specific problems as directed by the Director of Quality Assurance.

Interface with the Metallurgy group and participate in inter-company standardization activities.

Develop metallurgical specifications and operator instructions as applicable.

Prepare other Quality Assurance related reports or documents as requested by the Director of Quality Assurance.

Manage the Eddy Current Inspection activities as required.

 

This job is related to a significant environmental aspect which has been identified in our Environmental Management System.

 

Candidate Requirements: 

 

 Experience Preferred:

Five years experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment (preferably in machining or forging for the automotive industry).  Should be familiar with Induction Heating and Hardening (2 years Induction Hardening experience preferred). Should be familiar with QS-9000/ISO 9002 requirements.

 

Education Preferred:

B.S. Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science
