NanoMaterials Production Research Engineer

Due to growth, Luna Innovations is seeking to fill a Research Engineer position. The candidate should have at least a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering or similar field. Laboratory experience outside of the classroom required.  The successful candidate will also have experience or background in mechanical equipment design and construction, simple circuit design and construction, and operation of experimental equipment.  Familiarity with modern characterization tools and techniques such as SEM, TEM, Raman, FTIR, and NIR as well as experience in the synthesis and characterization of nanotubes, fullerenes, or other nanoparticles is desired. The Research Engineer will assist in the transition of new nanotube production system concepts through design, construction, testing, qualification, and into manufacturing. The candidate will need to have excellent written and oral communications skills and the ability to work in a dynamic cross-disciplinary environment.
