Network Eng II

Seeking an experienced network security engineer to work in a dynamic and highly technical environment supporting a Verizon Business NOC at a customer location in northern Virginia. The position will carry out network and security management functions required to meet Statement of Work (SOW) requirements for network availability, network security and customer notification/interaction. The successful candidate must have hands-on experience with intrusion detection systems (IDS) and firewalls. Experience in a technical support or help desk function strongly preferred. Must be able to work rotating shifts and holidays in a 7 x 24 environment and must be willing to work one weekend day and be on-call when necessary.

 

Job Qualifications/Required Skills:

 

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications or 2 -5 years of progressive technical training/experience is required. Experience working in an operations center utilizing network management systems such as CiscoWorks, NeuSecure and SMARTS is desired. Hands-on experience with management of MCI networks and network management tools (Netpro, PVON, SNM etc) is desired. CCNA/CCNP, JNCIE, JNCIA and CISSP certifications are strong plus. The successful candidate must be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain all required clearances to include a Public Trust Clearance. Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills are a must.
