Network Engineer

Must be able to possess an agency specific (NACI) secruity clearance.  The professional filling this position will perform testing and fault isolation for circuits on multiple satellite networks including - The Federal Aviation Administrations satellite network. The individual will be working in a Network Control Center utilizing network performance monitoring and test equipment to intrusively/non-intrusively identify and correct deficiencies for all aspects of the network. The individual will work with multiple systems including Linkway 2100, LinkStar, iDirect, Compass, Illuminet, and a host of commercial earth station equipment such as UPS, GPS, BUC, LNA, SSPA, Modems, and IDUs. The position requires professional interface with Verizon Business operations, marketing, and customers to expedite isolation and repair of complex circuit/equipment issues. Resolution is both reactive and proactive; typically requires significant research and analysis. Work customarily and regularly requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment.

 

Job Qualifications/Required Skills:

 

Bachelors degree, or equivalent, and 2-5 years of job related technical experience is required. Must be able to possess an agency specific (NACI) security clearance. Troubleshooting principles, methodology and satellite transmission knowledge are required. Must be able to work shifts/holidays in a 7x24 control center environment. Working knowledge of satellite earth stations and VSAT systems is necessary. End to End physical and logical circuit theory is necessary.The qualified individual must be highly motivated and able to multi-task. A professional with a 'Can-Do' attitude who has the ability to learn multiple systems in a fast paced environment. Preferred:  Knowledge of Timeplex multiplexing equipment, Timeview2000, and router technology is a plus. CCNA certification is also a significant plus.
