Noise/Vibration/Harshness (NVH) Engineer

Belcan Inc. is once again looking to expand our Peoria, Illinois Advanced Engineering Technology Division.  AETD is a global provider of engineering services specializing in design engineering, engineering analysis, computer modeling, and advanced manufacturing techniques. 

We have an immediate opening for a Machine Dynamics Noise/Vibration/Harshness Engineer. 

Qualifications:
BS or MS in Engineering or equivalent experience.  Strong analytical and problem solving skills and an interest in dynamics and the application of vibration theory and linear vibration isolation methods and technologies to machine related Noise, Vibration and Harshness issues. 

A candidate must posses excellent communication skills (listening and conveying ideas) and the ability to work in a team environment. A Self-starter and motivated to produce quality results.  A Strong multitasking and organizational skills and an Excellent mechanical aptitude.

Job Description:
We are seeking a creative and highly motivated individual to conduct Resilient Mount Design Control activity.  The candidate will work with various customers such as Purchasing and internal/external component suppliers to establish robust isolation systems which exceed demanding Noise, Vibration and Harshness performance goals in a cost effective manner across the product line.  Responsibilities will include working with the customer to develop and properly apply linear vibration isolation methods and  technologies to engines, cabs, cooling packages and additional components and subsystems which could benefit from proper isolation systems. This aspect of the work will require the development of detailed design recommendations involving proper mount selection, application, validation activities required and documenting work efforts to preserve design intent.  Work with internal and external suppliers to specify and/or develop specific mounts and technologies for a given application. Responsibility for routine Design Control activity required to meet critical engineering needs and product schedules, i.e. directing detailing and print releasing activity, similar parts catalog maintenance, liaise with internal customers and Supplier base to move parts through the procurement phase during the product development cycle.  Involvement in the development  of isolator performance information via direct interaction with internal and supplier based mount test facilities, test data analysis and mount and system performance verification efforts. Process improvement and robust mounting system tool development activities are also within the scope. 
Typical work splits:  Application 80%, Design Control 10-15%, Test 5-10%.  Limited travel required, typically less than 5%. 

Desired Characteristics:
Any of the following characteristics will be beneficial to the candidate:  Background in vibration theory, the application and performance characteristics of visco-elastic materials, bolted joints and statistical theory.  Product development with experience in design, analysis or test.  Experience with design and testing of resilient mounts.  Software experience with MATLAB, DATK, ProE, VisView, Engineering Data Systems, FEA, Fastener Advisor and standard office suites.
