Nuclear Quality Specialist

Responsible for all Quality aspects related to new unit, repair order and configuration management of commercial nuclear steam turbines manufactured by Dresser-Rand. Requires direct interface with:
Customers- commercial utilities and regulatory bodies

Engineering, Record System and all Order Records
Manufacturing- Quality and Product Support
Aftermarket- Order review and coordination
Purchasing- requisition input
Quality- Certification packages
Internal and External auditors
Suppliers.- Configuration management

This job is critical for maintaining our current level of support for the Commercial Nuclear product line in the GBU. This staff position will be dedicated to supporting all aspects of New Unit and Repair Order Quality for all commercial Nuclear Orders. Current utilization for this position is over 80%.

Additionally, this position is responsible for:

Management of the Part dedication and Inspection Record database

Subject matter expert for various Quality and Shop standards used in the order process.

Back-up for the position of Navy Quality Specialist

4 years minimum experience in Quality Engineering / Quality management or related field required. Experience with Steam turbine engineering and/or production preferred. Background in Nuclear or Mil Standard QA requirements beneficial.

Required Skills:
This open position is one of our key GBU Engineering staff positions. This position is critical for Nuclear order processing and manufacturing. This position is directly responsible for management of Quality requirements on customer orders, DR purchase requisitions, Part dedication and Inspection Records and Order Certification compilation. It is expected that this engineer will have regular direct contact with commercial power plants and will work closely with DR engineering, Purchasing and Aftermarket to see that orders are processed correctly, completely and on time. This individual will lead our interface with regulatory agencies such as NUPIC, EPRI, the NRC and GE

Must have strong communication skills (both written and verbal)

Must be capable of handling multiple tasks concurrently

Must be willing to learn the strict technical and Quality requirements unique to
Govt. and commercial nuclear applications.

Must have strong project management and leadership skills combined with a
willingness to take over existing design development projects and see them
through to completion
