Optical Engineer



Key Functional Responsibilities:



* Work within the Advanced Optics R&D group chartered to develop semi-conductor lasers with state of the art brightness.

* Develop a wide variety of optical test and characterization processes for precision micro optic alignments.

* Equitable mixture of data analysis, optical design and process development.

* Help to set strategy in future products for next generation pump products.

* Growth toward product management for higher level of integrated assemblies.



Requirements:



Knowledge, skills and abilities.



* BS Engineering field. 5 years experience with mechanical engineering and design preferably in telecom, semiconductor or laser industries.

* Strong fundamental understanding of engineering theory and methods.

* Experience with computer aided optical design (Zeemax) highly desirable.

* Ability to create a complete engineering solution with minimal supervision.

* Ability to work constructively with peers, customers and vendors in a constructive and professional manner.

* Ability to complete projects through design, procurement, assembly and testing.

* Proven organizational, project management and supervisory skills.

* Solid analytical and problem-solving skills including problem identification, analysis, action planning and execution.

* Must be self-directed and innovative, able to assess current operations in an effort to improve the future goals of the company.

* Ability to adapt to changing priorities, meet deadlines and work well under pressure.

* Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time wisely.

* Ability to clearly and effectively summarize and present results.
