We currently have a Optical Manufacturing Engineer career opportunity at our Dallas, TX location.
Job Purpose:
Manufactures optical products by defining, developing, and implementing manufacturing engineering plans; developing manufacturing processes; improving manufacturing efficiency.
Duties:
* Develops manufacturing engineering plan by studying product design, specifications, cost standards, and gross margin requirements; developing product definition; preparing cost estimates and timetables; documents product design.
* Develops manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of fabrication, assembly, tooling, fixturing, and materials; researching, conceptualizing, designing, modifying and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors; developing, documenting, and implementing process procedures.
* Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes; developing, documenting, and implementing quality assurance policies, procedures, and standards; maintaining documentation management systems; completing statistical analyses.
* Develops, maintains, and improves manufacturing equipment by providing technical direction to new equipment definition, evaluation, purchase, and installation, to equipment maintenance, to equipment refurbishment, and to equipment capability enhancement.
* Provides technical support by answering questions and requests from manufacturing technicians, sales and product development staff, and customers.
* Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
* Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
* Maintains company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
* Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging manufacturing engineering practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
* Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
* Manufacturing Engineers from the Automative and Aeronautics Industry is a plus.
