Optical Test Engineer (OTE1)

 

 

 

Position Summary

Successful candidate will join the rapidly growing Polatis team in delivering products which will change the face of optical communications in a variety of industriesPrimary responsibility will be to operate in a technical support role to Polatis manufacturing team, taking ownership of all test processes and resolving product technical issues. As a secondary task, support Advanced Engineering team in design verification of new products.

Position Type:  Full time, permanent

 

Location: Boston, USA

 

Reports To: VP Operations

 

Salary:  Salary will be commensurate with experience & competitive with local market

Principal Duties:

? Analysis of product test data

? Fault-finding and repair of product under test

o  Electrical, optical and mechanical faults

? Manage US customer returns process including fault find & repair of any returned units

? Perform design validation testing on products under development

? Testing and preparation of product for customer demonstrations & exhibitions

? Perform product tests as required to support production schedules

? Test equipment set-up, maintenance & calibration

? Development & improvement of test processes

? Testing of new test software solutions

? Documentation of test procedures

? Training of production team

? Fault finding of test equipment issues

? Introduction into manufacture of new products within Boston manufacturing facility

? Co-ordination and implementation of engineering changes within Boston facility

? Identification of product and process improvements

? Support operations manager in meeting delivery date requirements

 

Candidate Profile:

? Graduate level engineer

? Broad knowledge of industry-standard optical test processes and test equipment

? Excellent fault-finding skills

? Surface mount soldering skills

? Basic labview programming skills advantageous

? Good verbal and written communication skills a must

? Flexible & adaptable, as part of a small high caliber team

? Able to travel to UK for training

? Able to train and supervise others

? Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
