Description:

The Opto Sustaining Engineering Manager will be responsible for the three engineering departments in LED Opto Manufacturing which include; epitaxial growth, wafer fabrication, and package/test.

 

Responsibilities:

Lead a team of sustaining engineering managers and sustaining engineers/process technicians to meet the needs of the Opto LED business. In this role, the sustaining engineering manager?s responsibilities include, but are not limited to;
? Partnering with Opto operations, Opto equipment maintenance, and the Opto development team to make the LED business successful
? Drive lean manufacturing and six sigma principles throughout the organization
? Partner with product engineering to drive improvements to the customer return process and continue to improve our outgoing product quality
? Work closely with the development team to transition new products and/or processes into high volume production
? Work closely with the equipment maintenance team to improve our tool capabilities; higher tool availability and utilization
? Continue to reduce process variation throughout the factory and further develop our SPC system
? Reduce/eliminate reworks and waste in our processes
? Develop our engineering team to be better problem solvers, team leaders, and teachers
? Continue to develop a leadership pipeline for the engineering organization
? Work with the finance team to develop cost models to drive future cost reduction activities to meet the needs of our business
? Drive yield improvement across the organization which will result in lower costs and improved product quality
? Conduct annual performance evaluations and assure each individual has a development plans
? Work closely with operations to reduce cycle times in each department
? Drive capacity improvements and improve tool flexibility to meet the needs of manufacturing
? Work with our information systems group to drive factory automation

 

Qualifications:
? A MS or PhD in engineering is required
? Minimum of 10 years in semiconductor industry
? Minimum of 5 years in High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) environment
? Minimum of 5 years in engineering management
? Experienced leader with proven success in managing multiple cross-organization programs
? Demonstrated self-motivation, commitment to task, problem solving, and customer orientation
? Substantial technical experience in device testing, wafer fabrication, semiconductor reliability, and statistical process control
? An understanding of lean manufacturing and six sigma principles and tools
