PCB Designer Level 2

Objective Statement: 

 

1)   Designs and develops printed circuit boards (PCBs), fabrication and assembly drawings..

 

Responsibilities:

 

1)   Drafts layouts for standard and dense, hi-speed, multi-layer boards.

2)   Helps engineers identify and resolve mechanical design issues relating to PCBs.

3)   Generates documents using computer aided drafting (CAD) for schematic, assembly, and fabrication drawings.

4)   Support System level design and engineering reviews.

5)   Provide time/cost inputs to scheduling and budgeting activities.

6)   Interface with configuration control department to keep engineering drawings current and complete.

7)   Import Orcad netlists into PCB layout program.

8)   Produce PCB layouts and Bill of Materials (BOM) using Protel 99SE or PADS powerPCB software.

9)   Produce weekly activity reports.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

1)   Education: BSEET or BSEE with at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

2)   At least 4 years of PCB layout experience, including high-density multiplayer PCBs to IPC standards.

3)   Ability to maintain footprint and schematic symbol libraries

4)   Prior experience managing electromagnetic interference (EMI) on densly packed PCBs.

5)   Familiar with Protel and or PADs Power PCB CAD Software.

 

Additional Desired Skills:

1)   Signal integrity analysis experience.

2)   RF layout experience

3)   Experience with Autocad or Solidworks.

4)   Familiar with high volume SMT technicques as it relates to footprint design.
