Introduction: Exa Corporation seeks a product engineer / management professional to participate in the product design, launch and support of our next generation geometric mesh modeling software. Successful candidates will be conversant with a variety of CAD design and CAE mesh modeling tools and have a strong understanding of the details of effective interactive geometric design software and the use of such tools as well as an understanding of the geometric design process in general. Skill and experience using production design software and bringing them to market are required.

 

Responsibilities: This job will involve direct participation in the functional and GUI design of a comprehensive CAE mesh modeling software tool to manage the full life cycle of simulation geometry, beginning from CAD, to application ready mesh, through optimization and analysis and ultimately back to CAD. The individual will be involved with optimizing the geometric modeling process, plotting customer requirements, providing functional specifications to software development and tracking product compliance. Responsibilities will also include launch and releasing activities such as Quality Assurance, developing product documentation including training materials, providing training classes and aiding in the customer support process.

 

In order to perform these tasks well the individual must become an expert in using the geometric design software in production applications. This will include both supporting Exa?s field engineering teams as well as on site customer interaction.

Both PowerFLOW and PowerCLAY allow customers to shrink design cycles by incorporating quick turnaround analysis throughout the design cycle.

 

Our primary customers include virtually every major automotive manufacturer in the world and typical projects focus on the engineering of vehicles planned for release within the next four years. The position is based primarily at our US headquarters in Burlington, MA, but will occasionally require travel to our affiliate offices in Paris, Stuttgart and Tokyo as well as our domestic and international customers.

 

Requirements:

We will consider candidates from a variety of educational and commercial backgrounds including Engineering, Math Modeling, traditional CAD Engineering or similar related fields, either with limited or significant commercial experience. We are seeking a positive, self-motivated, energetic individual with strong organizational skills and excellent communication and customer skills. Ideally, you will have industrial experience with (and a strong understanding of) geometric design and the modeling processes.

Successful candidates will possess a majority of the following traits:

- BS or MS in Engineering, Design or related field, or equivalent experience.

 

- Minimum 1-2 years experience with common CAD modeling tools like Catia, Pro/E,

I-DEAS or SolidWorks. Experience with freeform surface design software like ICEM Surf

or Alias is a definite plus.

- Experience with mesh models (polygonal elements, STL, Nastran, VRML, etc.) and mesh modeling tools like ANSA or HyperMesh.

 

- Experience in design tool development and design process organization and application.

 

- Superior spatial reasoning skills with three dimensional geometry and design problems in general.

- Strong written oral communication skills in English and good presentation/teaching skills.

 

- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.

 

- General Windows and UNIX Skills, script programming and experience with complex graphics tools.

- Technical conversation skills in foreign languages (French, German, Italian and Japanese) are a plus.
