The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Load and Performance Test Engineer to model, instrument and validate the performance of CarDomain websites and related applications and tools. Utilize your software and analytical skills to forecast and project system load levels and develop load / stress test methods to test the system to projected load levels.

 

ResponsibilitiesWork with both business and technical teams to understand product features and create real-world test and use cases.Develop and conduct performance and load-testing of applications by coding scripts and using load-testing tools.  Evaluate and recommend affordable commercial test tools.Observe, document and communicate results of testing and perform regression testing to verify fixes.Assist the other QA engineers in performing functional testing of applications, document and communicate results of testing and perform regression testing to verify fixes.Perform data-level testing of applications (grey-box testing).  Observe, document and communicate results of testing and perform regression testing to verify fixes.Write QA scenarios from specifications, current applications, or collections of test cases.Exercise creativity in identifying effective approaches to testing and promote opportunities for innovation of products and QA processes.

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate has:5+ years of software application development experience in Linux/UNIX with strong emphasis on OO techniquesSolid experience in implementing Load/Stress testing environmentsAbility to competently program in at least one language (preferably C, C++, Java)Demonstrated knowledge of Perl (or other scripting language), JavaScript and HTMLThorough understanding of relational databases and SQL ? Oracle and/or MySQL preferredExperience with performance analysis ? use of profilers and code instrumentation techniques in a Perl and Java environmentAbility to perform in-depth analysis, troubleshooting and end-to-end testingExperience in proficiency with load/performance QA testing tools preferred (3rd party and/or internally developed)Excellent problem solving skills, is self motivated and can work in a fast-paced team environmentExcellent oral and written communication skillsBS or advanced degree in computer science, engineering or mathematicsPassionate about open source technologies ? experience with Apache, Lucene and Tomcat preferredInterest in cars
