Pipe/Pipe Spool Procurement Specialist

1.  JOB DESCRIPTION:  Execute & administer purchase orders/blanket order releases for piping products (welded & seamless pipe, fittings & flanges) and/or pipe spool fabrication.  Involvement will be from the initial RFQ stage through the execution and close-out of the orders, including issuance of bid packages, evaluation of proposals, purchase order award/administration, expediting of the order, dealing with commercial and technical issues, and final close-out of the award.  Candidate must have the experience and ability to coordinate timely delivery of piping materials & pipe spools among multiple job sites and/or fabrication yards. Assistance with estimates / proposals and other activities will be as required.

 

2.  JOB KNOWLEDGE:

 

? Good working knowledge of industry codes & standards that affect the purchasing and movement of piping materials & pipe spools e.g. materials, specifications, and designs (welding / NDE)

? Proficiency and experience in the formation and administration of purchase orders

? Proficiency in all phases of procurement including knowledge of and skill in communicating effectively with suppliers, bidder pre qualification, preparation of bidders lists, compilation of bid requests, knowledge of UCC or applicable legislation, negotiation of contracted terms and conditions and award of commitments.

? Proficiency in the administration of commitments, monitoring supplier performance, back charge procedures, and resolution of claims & disputes.  For pipe spool orders, perform invoice auditing (based on price lists, labor ?Unit Price Book ? and other pricing methodologies by interpreting isometrics and shop drawings)

? Skilled in working with, and communicating effectively both orally and in writing with other project functional groups, primarily Engineering, Construction, Project Management & others.

? Knowledge of international commercial conditions of buying as well as knowledge of pipe mills & pipe spool fabrication capacities throughout the various regions of the globe

?  Ability to participate in piping and pipe fabrication estimates (labor and materials)

?  Basic to Intermediate EXCEL and ACCESS skills  - heavy use of expediting tools to create piping status reports

?  Prior pipe mill or pipe spool installation support  from the job site a plus
