Alliant Energy currently has an opportunity for a
Planning Specialist II in Madison, WI.
Position Summary/Accountabilities
Supports system planners and distribution engineers by collecting, developing, and maintaining data used in the capital planning process.
Job Functions
Supports planners in performing data collection and formatting for presentations through the use of SQL, Excel, Access, and other complex computer programs to support the planning process.
Assist in the evaluation, development, and implementation of computer software and tools used to support capital planning.
Track analysis software releases and updates to insure that users have access to up dated versions.
Supports the maintenance of data, records, technical reference library, and WEB page for system planning.
Collects system load data and provides support to system planners in the development of long-range load forecasts.
Build moderately complex base-case planning models by collecting system data through GIS, maps, and field reviews. This includes review of switching devices, protective devices, loads, conductors, and other moderately complex items.
Perform load allocation on base case system models.
Develop complex facility information maps and other graphical information to support the planning process.
Manage and conduct non-complex projects that support the planning process.
Supports the monitoring of critical loads specified by system planners to insure that system reliability is maintained.
Supports the review of system outage performance and notify system planners of performance concerns to insure that SCORE targets are met.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Physical requirement includes extended hours of driving, sitting for long periods of time, speaking in front of people, grasping, reaching, feeling, hearing, seeing, writing, finger dexterity, reading, working with people, working around people, and working alone. Environmental requirements include working indoors.
Technical/Job Skill Qualifications
The candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications, and have demonstrated the following technical or job skills:
Education and/or experience to a Bachelors degree form an accredited college preferably with course work in engineering or computer science.
A minimum of three to five years of experience in progressively responsible engineering, planning, computer, or operations related work.
Proven effective written and verbal communications skills.
Advanced computer skills such as data retrieval or the ability to use higher-level planning and/or data analysis programs.
Possession of a valid drivers license.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment.
