Plant Engineer

Holcim (US) Inc., one of the nation?s largest manufacturers and distributors of cement and mineral components, has an immediate opening for a self-starting, results-oriented experienced Plant Engineer at its plant in Holly Hill, SC.  This individual is responsible for:

 

? Safety, housekeeping, and key performance indicators as it pertains to duties.

? Maintaining plant equipment and assets by analyzing major breakdowns and collecting data to report on the cause of failure and actions to reduce or eliminate the chance of reoccurrence

? Providing mechanical, technical and engineering support; assisting in resolving technical/mechanical problems and provide engineering solutions

? Conducting economic and operational feasibility studies on proposed modifications and/or additions

? Assisting in preparing the plant maintenance and capital expenditure budget

? Providing project management for modifications and new installations as required;  coordinate projects from an idea through debugging of the final installation/modification

? Managing contractors and/or contracting personnel working on assigned projects

? Reviewing drawings and engineering specifications and recommending changes

? Completing structural evaluations, formulating engineering solutions and providing certification of structural stability

? Preparing engineering work scopes and cost justifications

? Managing the service on plant HVAC systems, passenger elevators, and fire protection systems

? Ownership of the plant library and updating of in-house drawings

? Conducting surveying requirements throughout the plant, including physical inventory calculations, mining and reclamation planning, and alignment of conveyor belt moves in the quarry

? Coordinating work on plant water wells and underground utilities

? Being a resource to Process Area Teams for training, technical assistance, communication, follow-up and trouble shooting

? Providing engineering support to a 24 hour operation

 

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree, preferably in an engineering field. A minimum of 3 years of applicable experience, preferably maintenance, in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment; cement plant maintenance is strongly coveted. Good computer software knowledge required, while working knowledge of Autocad and SAP is a plus. Experience in the cement industry is also preferred.
