Job Description:
Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of value stream with overall responsibilities for production and production-related activities so that approved products are manufactured on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives. Coach and mentor production personnel including Group Leaders, Supervisors and operators.
? Ensure effective employee relations; provide coaching and development; resolve employee issues through problem solving, conflict resolution
? Direct and coordinate various programs essential to manufacturing procedures such as training, housekeeping, cost reduction, HACCP
? Set goals with Group Leaders, manage departmental performance measures, evaluate and communicate achievements through weekly progress reports to Plant Manager and production groups
? Set example for how people should be treated; address discipline, performance and/or rule violations
? Work with Group Leaders and Supervisors to solve problems; use resources of engineering, maintenance, quality, safety, human resources ? support decisions made with data, investigation, and discussion
? Facilitate meetings to build communicate between departments and shifts, ensure people understand status of production, downtime, scheduled repairs and are part of team
? Follow up on meeting action items, people issues and downtime to ensure problems are quickly resolved
Champion initiatives in the department to institutionalize lead manufacturing, CIT and other productivity improvements
? Assist in the hiring, training and evaluation of staff to ensure proper number of employees are available for production; coordinate with Human Resources on staffing needs; limit use of overtime, excess hours
? Ensure plant cleanliness and application of GMP and HACCP policies, always ready for process audits
? Make capital equipment recommendations; process changes
? Ensure all policies and procedures are followed in production
? Demonstrate safety in all activities; wear proper personal protective equipment
? Provide support to other production areas as necessary
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor?s degree in related field, 5 years related experience with at least 3 years supervisory experience in manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others
Ability to think ahead and plan over a 30-day time span to prepare action plans to achieve results
Computer literate, must be familiar with current software such as Microsoft Office, Excel
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, listening skills, problem solving skills and conflict resolution skills
Ability to multi-task, detail orientated and organized
Working knowledge of budgets, inventory management and scheduling
Background with manufacturing methods such as Kaizen training, process improvement programs and procedures.
Extended periods of walking, remaining on feet
Must deal with heat, noise, dust
