Ingersoll Rand Climate Control Technologies Sector is seeking an experienced Plastics Engineer III for our Bridgeton, MO location.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The plastics engineer will provide corporate wide support for development projects and value improvement programsthat involve the design and application of non metallic materials and components, with a focus on Retail application projects. The plastics engineer must also understand and recommend the use of processes related to non metallic component manufacture.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work as a team member to support product groups on development projects using design skills and knowledge of plastics and related processes. Use appropriate analytical and test methods in designing and selecting materials and processes to ensure that the product meets or exceeds customer's requirements.
The engineer is responsible for part design, taking into consideration process, tooling and material limitations. The engineer works closely with manufacturing, supply management, resin supplier, molder and mold makers to develop and tooling and component.
Identify components where metals and metal processes are commonly applied in Thermo King and Hussmann product and design and implement non metallic components that will either reduce weight, reduce cost, integrate parts, improve reliability or simplify the manufacturing/assembly process.
Lead plastic engineering component development projects. This includes developing schedules, understanding and meeting important milestones, understanding part and tooling costs, specifying material, designing (geometry and structural) parts, supervising prototype build, developing and monitoring test programs, supervising fabrication and approval of parts, documenting parts and assemblies, and organizing periodic design reviews.
Support multi-departmental efforts regarding manufacturability, standardization, field problem resolution, service parts, and Product Management department technical assistance.
The use of design tools and analytical tools are an important aspect of this position. Hussmann uses Solid Edge for its design tool. The plastics engineering must become proficient in the use of this tool. In addition, familiarity in finite element analysis of non linear materials and a motivation to develop skills in this area are desired. The engineer is also responsible for testing materials and parts in order to judge their suitability for use in Thermo King and Hussmann's severe application environment.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering or Plastic engineering.
5 years experience minimum related industry, with exposure to plastic materials & processes and design.
