Plumbing Dept Manager

Reputable and growing HVAC consulting firm is seeking a Plumbing Department Manager to join our executive team. Key responsibilities include design supervision, quality control, manpower assignment and staff development.



Management Responsibilities:

1. Maintain and oversee design progress in reference to set project schedules. Assign additional manpower to project as needed.

2. Proofread and check all discipline design work AND drawing set up (logos, line types, title block info?.) prior to each issuance.

3. Conduct regular meetings to review drawing quality, compliance to design objectives and identify design conflicts and coordination issues.

4. Resolve schedule conflicts with project manager.

5. Monitor and evaluate performance of staff.

6. Facilitate and promote teamwork.

7. Proactively communicate with Principal on all production, performance, and personnel issues.

Design Responsibilities:

1. Attend project design meetings.

2. Guide Designer/Engineer with design and planning of major system components (Main Service Sizing, Electrical Single line, Generators, Chiller/boiler plant, Main air systems, System Selection, Booster pumps, Fire Pumps?..)

3. Review all project submittals to determine compliance with client objectives and project scope.

4. Assist in reviewing and answering RFIs.

5. Create project specifications when needed.

6. Assist Project Manager to plan and orchestrate in house coordination sessions/meetings between all engineering disciplines.

7. Punchlist the project after construction.

8. Arrange and attend meetings with utility companies.

9. Arrange technical support meetings involving equipment/technology vendors, if necessary.

Qualifications:

1. Supervising experience, 5+ yrs; technical experience 15+ yrs

2. BS mechanical or electrical engineering

3. PE license preferred

4. Written and verbal communications

5. Demonstrated technical ability to prepare reports, specifications, and drawings

for different project types.

6. Demonstrated people management ability to develop staff to reach their

potential

8. Ability to identify and avoid problems in the early design stages

9. Ability to coordinate with other disciplines, internally and externally.

10. Ability to resolve field conflicts and work with contractors.
