Platform Architect

 

Really enjoy the business side of things but still craving to be involved in technology?  Join Systems Engineering at St. Jude Medical, as a Platform Architect, to define our overall technology strategy in response to market and customer needs.  You will be responsible for aggregating input from across multiple disciplines, fostering collaboration and arriving at a technology strategy which will enable us to rapidly innovate and iterate within existing technology platforms and forward to new technology platforms.

 

You will leverage your strong technical skills and understanding of multiple disciplines such as hardware, software and mechanical design and development, to gain a strong understanding of ongoing technology development efforts as well as drive us towards future areas of focus.  With your broad view across programs, technologies and disciplines and your strong leadership skills, you will influence and provide guidance to the innovation factory within St. Jude to enable rapid technology development and incorporation of sufficiently mature technologies into our product development efforts.

 

Throughout the research and development lifecycle, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership to enable individual program teams to execute against the technology vision that you have established.  By understanding the strategies of the individual program teams, you will ensure that the separate development efforts will seamlessly converge consistent with your portfolio vision and our customers? needs.  You will manage risk, identify and work around constraints, foster collaboration, evaluate technologies, motivate and inspire, provide guidance, remove obstacles and generally, do whatever else the team needs to insure we deliver the right products to market at the right time. 

 

As the ideal candidate, you have outstanding written and verbal communication skills with experience defining products.  You also have strong project management skills, are a charismatic leader and do-er, and have a solid business perspective coupled with an understanding of the clinical and regulatory environments in which we work.  You are technically sound in multiple disciplines including hardware, software and mechanical design, and you are comfortable with evolving and innovative technologies.  You are creative, a team player and are comfortable working across boundaries.  Your previous work experience is highly technical in nature and may include Product Management in either implantable medical devices or consumer electronics/computers, Medical Consulting, Clinical Engineering or something similar.
