Powertrain Product Design Engineer Base Valvetrain

Job Description: The primary function of this engineer will be to provide hardware product design support and direction for new development and production programs. Key functions will include:



 - Design of  valve Train, cylinder heads  (Engineering Design utilizing ProE /CATIA)

 - Design of intake manifolds

 - Development of  camshaft, cam phasers (inlet and exh)  , variable lift valve train systems- Lead dyno development of developed hardware. - Identification of process variation issues effecting assembly and quality. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Recommendations for resolution.

 - Work with Engineering staff to develop induction systems that complement other  hardware modifications. Supplier support (product engineering perspective) to aid in the manufacturing and quality issues of components and systems. Support manufacturing to assure supplier readiness for production.

 - Support Vehicle development

 - Support engine verification testing (dyno development and durability)

 - Support the manufacturing, quality and purchasing organizations.

 o  Focus on design for assembly improvements (DFSS, DFMEA)

 o   Problem resolution (Design and assembly)

 o   Production readiness, help run Production trial runs.

 - Provide management summaries and project updates

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Job Requirements:


Bachelors Degree (BSME  Required) Recommended MSME



 -  Minimum of  5 years experience in

Powertrain product design and development

 -  Detailed knowledge of DFSS, Design  for Assembly, Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis

 -  Prefer engine dyno experience

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 -  Excellent communication skills (Able to work with a broad range of engineers, customers and suppliers)

 -  Excellent Overall project management experience

 -  Production Experience with OEM or Tier 1 supplier

 -  Fluent in Pro/E 3D Solid modeling and / or CATIA 

-  Knowledgeable in the use of Matlab, Simulink, MS word, Excel

-  Back ground experience in airflow development, system tuning preferred.
