Principal Firmware Engineer - IPVS

Department Description: The DMS IPVS Uplink Engineering department develops leading edge professional video encoding/transcoding technology (MPEG2 and MPEG4) for programmers (satellite), cable, and telco applications

Responsibilities/Expectations: Candidates will be responsible for developing firmware for real time DSP, Network Processors, and Control Plane Processor applications. Candidates will work with systems engineers to translate system requirements into firmware requirements, and functional and performance specifications. The candidate will then perform the design, including interfacing directly with other firmware engineers and circuit card developers. Upon delivery of completed firmware design, candidates will be responsible for hardware/firmware board or unit level integration and test, working in concert with system and hardware engineers. Candidate will be responsible for adopting and following company and department quality processes

Knowledge Skills: Minimum 4 years of firware design experience with either DSP or Network Processors. Experience must include C and assembly/microcode programming and board-level hardware/firmware integration and test. A specific working knowledge of TI DSP or Intel Network Processor assembly/microcode and design development tools is preferred. Must have direct knowlege of classification and forwarding of multiprotocol traffic.^^
