Principal Firmware/Software Verification Test Engineer

Minneapolis (Columbia Heights), MN

 

This position will be responsible for leading all aspects of software verification testing of an implantable drug delivery system real time embedded firmware.

 

The responsibilities of Principal Software Verification Test Engineer will include:
- Lead requirements gathering/analysis for creating VT Test Environment with emphasis on automation
- Lead VT Test Environment Development/Validation
- Participate in firmware requirements/design process and provide input to ensure product requirements are testable
- Lead all aspects of requirements based verification testing for the implantable drug delivery system real time embedded firmware. This includes:
o Lead efforts on ensuring traceability between requirements and testing
o Lead process for test script design, implementation, review and execution
o Create test plans and reports, lead documentation of test results and work with SQA to ensure that the requirements based testing is thorough and complete
o Manage tracking of issues found during testing and drive it to closure
- Participate and facilitate other forms of testing including stress, targeted and systems testing

This position involves working on a class III medical device under FDA regulations and entails rigorous process discipline and documentation to assure functionality, safety, reliability and quality of the product. This is a technical lead position and requires technical, interpersonal, and leadership competencies.

 

Minimum Requirements:
- BS in Electrical Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent
- 8 years of experience testing Real Time Embedded software
- Experience designing/developing automated test environment for Real Time Embedded software
- Substantial experience working with formal processes for software testing
- Substantial experience in creating formal test plans, specifications, reports and traceability between requirements and tests
- 2+ years experience providing work direction to peers/junior engineers/technicians
- Familiarity with Risk/Hazard Analysis and FMEA processes

Preferred Requirements:
- MS in Electrical Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent
- 10+ years of experience testing Real Time Embedded software
- 3+ years experience in a leadership role testing Real Time Embedded software
- Substantial experience working in a regulated environment, preferably medical industry
