Principal Industrial Engineer

The candidate should have strong project management, team facilitation, coaching skills, (knowledge of lean manufacturing and 6 sigma used at manufacturing plants preferably in the pharmaceutical or food processing industries).
The candidate must also exhibit, product costing knowledge, proactive attitude to problem solving and to searching out the opportunities for cost reduction. He/she should also have a proven track record in the area of lean manufacturing, 5-S, set-up reduction, work measurement, work standardization, capacity analysis, capital project justification and their financial analysis.
Responsible for the leadership/coaching of value improvement projects involving Bio-Pharma products. Project types include quality improvement, value improvement, redesign for technology improvement, etc. A certain amount of engineering support to the manufacturing plant is required. Strong supplier and customer contact is also a necessity. Interactions involve Manufacturing, Quality, Logistics, Laboratories, Plant Engineering/Management, Finance, Regulatory Affairs, Purchasing, and assorted scientific groups. Position is responsible for management of projects and project teams from inception to implementation.
Job Requirements Bachelor's or Master's Degree in industrial engineering discipline. Excellent communication skills and able to work/lead multifunctional teams. Experience in project management. Experience working in a regulatory environment is a plus. Results oriented, proven high performer. Able to work independently to bring issues and projects to resolution. Leadership experience and proven technical experience.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. The primary role the individual is expected to lead teams towards work measurement and work standard development, specialized quality working teams or Kaizen teams and to mentor, coach, and teach throughout the facility.
2. From these team facilitations identify opportunities to reduce costs and optimize resource utilization.
3. Develop reports from the observations, findings and statistical data analysis
4. Identify potential recommendations for the facility to implementation; the recommendations must be pursued from a ROI perspective.
5. Participate in the continuing improvement of lean manufacturing by contributing to the various team initiatives, with an ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
Qualifications
1. Should have a Bachelor's degree or Master in Industrial Engineering field.
2. Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
3. Should have a minimum of 5+ years experience.
4. The candidate should be self-starter, motivated and prepared to work in a team environment.
5. Must posses above average computer skills in the use of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
6. Basic knowledge of other software such as Autocad Visio, MS Project an advantage, Simulation Modeling, Minitab Statistics, ERP-JDE/AS400 systems, and computerized work measurement a plus.
Working Conditions
Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs.
In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.
Must be able to work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Will be required to follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body.
No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in the work environment.
Will work in a cold, wet environment and climb up and into large processing tanks for cleaning.Must be able to work overtime as required.May be required to work in a confined area.Inside working conditions.Some Clean Room and cool/hot storage conditions.5% travel.
