The qualified candidate will have experience with the evaluation of new and existing material technologies/processes for medical device applications. The incumbent will be expected to serve as a key materials in-house expert and will be required to seek out and evaluate the latest cutting edge materials for potential device applications and offer suggestions for device concepts and designs. Familiar with a variety of analytic techniques used to characterize materials and particularly when determining suitability for medical device applications. Participate as a team member to bring medical devices from concept to commercialization.




A minimum of a Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline and fourteen years of related engineering experience or equivalent is required.  Experience and knowledge in polymer properties/processing and characterization, and application in the medical device industry required. Knowledge of hydrophilic coating technology and metallurgy is desirable.



Experience in product development from concept to commercialization is strongly preferred.  Experience with medical device t testing and test method development is required. Must be a motivated, self-starter with the ability to multi-task. Must demonstrate strong technical qualifications in their field of expertise. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required. Experience consulting with physicians on the development of new products is a plus.
