Principal Regulatory / Safety Engineer

Summary:  Responsible for understanding the issues and managing all regulatory and safety initiatives for GW products.  This includes extensive interaction with product development teams and vendors/ODMs.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 Function as the regulator and safety ?center of excellence? for internal and external development teams.  Monitor and keep abreast of country requirements for emissions, communications, safety, and environment and ensure that the ODMs and internal groups develop and document appropriately.  Provide engineering program management for safety and regulatory activities for desktops, displays, servers, and notebooks and ensure tracking and documentation of same.  Responsible for ensuring Gateway?s products meet all appropriate safety and regulatory requirements, both from a legal and customer requirements perspective.  This includes working with Engineering, Marketing, Quality, Customer Service and Support, and New Product Introduction.Communicate regularly with internal teams and highlight issues that impact product design, specifications, time-to-market, cost, etc. and work closely with those teams to resolve issues and drive products to completion.  Develop a broad knowledge of product development activities and program status.

 

Requirements/Qualifications/Skills:

 Extensive knowledge of industry safety and regulatory requirements and processes and processes8+ years managing safety and regulatory programsExcellent knowledge of x86 computing platforms, stand interfaces, and peripheralsKnowledge of EMI engineeringAbility to manage and lead projects and work with other teams to understand requirements and develop action plansExcellent organization and project tracking skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsSelf driven and proactive

 

Education/Certification:

 

BS Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Safety, Environmental, or Computer Engineering or closely related field.
