POSITION PURPOSE:

Assure the consistent, timely, accurate and independent evaluation of medical systems risks prior to clinical studies or market release.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assess medical systems safety risk. Facilitate medical risk management meetings with engineers, scientists, and clinicians, throughout the phases of research, development, and evaluation (clinical). Prepare risk management deliverables for assigned projects. Serve as the independent medical-engineering expert on project teams. Assure commonality from project to project in methods, format and content. Regularly review field performance and identify changes to the risk management process that could have prevented field issues. Take on special projects in which only the results are specified and complete them on schedule. Supervise engineers and technicians.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimal Requirements: B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field with at least 7 years engineering experience (Product Development, Reliability, or Field Support). Strong verbal/Written communication skills. Proven ability to lead teams. Ability to independently lead investigations on identifying system/product failures, hazards, hazardous situations, and harm. Excellent understanding of typical customer use of medical products. Excellent understanding of the medical aspects of Cardiac Rhythm Diagnostics Management therapies, diagnostics, devices, and systems, including customer expectations, common medical practice, and systems troubleshooting. Ability to independently research and understand medical topics and issues related to CRDM, and formulate/present findings (both written and verbally). Understanding of CRDM Product Performance Monitoring, systems design & technologies including design partitioning and interactions (FW/SW/HW), design assurance & systems testing, and manufacturing processes.

Preferred Requirements: Knowledge of ISO/FDA regulation requirements. Working knowledge of CRM Process CSS.0411.0002 and ISO 14971. NASPExAM/AP Testamur. Influence management skills.
