This position will be located in Charleston, SC.

Specialty Chemicals is the world leader in production of activated carbon used in emission control systems for automobiles and trucks. The division is also a global leader in the production of emulsifiers used in asphalt paving. Other products are used in printing inks, dyestuffs, agrichemicals, rubber, protective coatings, oil drilling, paper manufacturing, cement, pollution control and many other applications.

 

 

JOB SUMMARY: 

Perform programming of process control systems (PLC and DCS) to support changes to the production facility for capital projects, process improvements, new product introductions, safety improvements, etc. Provide leadership in using process control systems to improve operations. Evaluate new technologies and recommend appropriate implementations. Develop scopes of work for capital projects and maintenance activities which relate to process control systems.  Provide daily support of the production facility involving process control systems.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

-  Develop scopes and cost estimates for capital and repair projects specific to Process Control of the plant systems and equipment.

-  Perform programming of process control systems (PLC and DCS) to support changes to the production area and equipment in capital projects, process improvements, new products introductions, safety improvements, ongoing system maintenance, etc.

-  Plan and execute process control projects by building teams which include engineering, contractor, vendor and MeadWestvaco internal resources

-  Lead process/product improvement efforts by optimizing/leveraging Process Control assets.

-  Evaluate new technologies for implementation to improve plant operations.

-  Support plant operations by taking call for process control issues

-  Become proficient in DCS programming and troubleshooting

 JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

-  Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (preferred) or applicable industry experience.

-  A minimum of 5 years process manufacturing experience.

-  Process control experience is preferred. 

-  Must have demonstrated leadership, communications, and team building capabilities.
