A world class manufacturer of copper tube located in the rural Midwest is seeking a highly motivated individual for a Process Engineering position with emphasis on cold drawing and draw tooling to help us extend our leading edge technology.  Desired candidate will bridge gaps between production, engineering, and quality.  Responsibilities include improving process consistency, optimizing performance, and addressing product application issues with customers.  An engineering or related technical degree is required.  Three to five years project engineering experience preferred in non-ferrous metal forming and fabrication including extrusion, rolling, drawing, and annealing.  SPC, Minitab, MS Access and other computer skills a strong benefit. Candidate must have excellent communication skills, aggressive project management skills and the ability to integrate into high performance teams.  We offer excellent salary and benefits package. 

 

Position Summary:  Responsible for coordinating and implementing all the process control activities in the  plant. Monitors testing equipment and performs analysis of machine, product and process data to determine capability and reports results to management and supervisory staff.


Major Responsibilities/Activities: 
Monitor and analyze process and product performance data and provide feedback to appropriate departments and plant management to enable implementation of corrective actions as and when necessary. Identify processes where statistical process controls are required; design and implement the controls as necessary; actively pursue product/process improvements.  Function as a resource to improvement teams; serve as a member as required. Key member of the Quality and Process Improvement Team. Provide technical support to customers and assist the Customer Service Department as needed. Monitor the performance of the eddy current testing equipment throughout the plant.  Conduct Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Gage R&R etc. as required.
Other Functions:
-Participate in the plant's internal audit system as an auditor
-Visit customers as necessary to investigate quality concerns and resolve technical
  issues. 
  -Support product development activities by coordinating and analyzing process data
Decision Making:Decide product/process acceptability in day to day manufacturing activities, if and when required; recommend the vendors/service providers for QA activities and laboratory equipment. Financial Responsibility (Budget requirements, purchasing authority or recommendations, control cost) Recommends vendors for purchasing process control/QA related equipment and supplies; issue purchase requisitions/EA's /AFE's associated with QA activities; monitor and communicate scrap/reject data to staff and assist in cost control efforts. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with sufficient familiarity with Metallurgy, Material Science or allied disciplines and  three to five year's experience in process control/QA.  Proficient in application of statistical techniques in manufacturing.  Familiarity with ISO quality system management standards.  Sound background in business system software such as word processors and spreadsheets.Team leader with good interpersonal skills.
