SUMMARY OF POSITION


Johns Manville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Process Engineer to be located in our Defiance, OH complex.

This position will provide technical and engineering support to the Rotary fiberglass manufacturing processes within Defiance Plant 8. He/she will collect and utilize process data to make quantum improvements in yields, rates, cycle times and/or up-time for existing products and play a leadership role in achieving all plant goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Ensure safety of self and others by adhering to safe work practices and procedures.

Sustain process output at planned levels by identifying sources of special cause variation.

Continuously improve process productivity sources of common cause variation, then plan and implement process or product modifications to reduce it.

Assist with writing, justifying and implementing capital requests for new equipment or equipment modifications.

Develop product based capability measures (Cpk) versus customer requirements (CTQ).

Implement product and process measurements (Rate, Yield, Up-time, Stability Factor) necessary to make process and product improvements.

Identify and implement opportunities to reduce the cost of operating supplies and services.

Improve process cycle times by identifying and eliminating non-value activities.

Take the lead in writing and implementing work instructions and other level 3 ISO documents.

Resolve any ergonomic issues related to the production of fiberglass products.

Perform, as assigned, other similar or related duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


BS degree in engineering or other technical discipline

Demonstrated track record of success in improving the performance of manufacturing processes

5 years experience in manufacturing plant environment (continuous operations preferred)

Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt experience required, certification a major plus
(If not certified, committed to achieving certfication by completing at least one Black/Green project.)
