Process Engineer (Fab)

General Description:
As a member of the Equipment Engineering Design team, the candidate will be a project leader with responsibility for all aspects of tool installation and startup. This individual will write equipment specifications for tools, develop acceptance specifications, and drive tool startups. This individual will interact directly with other Cree teams including the following: R&D and manufacturing process engineering, mechanical design and assembly, facilities, and purchasing. This individual will be responsible for a diverse mixture of equipment used in all aspects of high brightness LED manufacturing. These tools range from standard semiconductor processing equipment to custom designed and manufactured tools.


Description of Essential Job Functions:Member of an engineering team responsible for the development, design, procurement, and installation of equipment and equipment upgrades. Write equipment specifications including source acceptance documents.Lead equipment installations with facilities, vendors, contractors, and Cree equipment engineering personnel. Set and maintain installation schedules. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, determine corrective actions, and implement these actions.Work with development and sustaining engineering teams to provide equipment upgrades and coordinate vendor support during tool startups.Provide flexibility for 24x7 technical support for critical ongoing projects-this includes both returning pages and on-site after hours/weekend support as required.


Requirements:
Minimum 4-year degree in Engineering. Advanced degree preferred.Must be mechanically inclined and willing to work "hands-on".3 years minimum experience in semiconductor industry in manufacturing or R&D capacity desired.Works well in a team environment ? excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills required.Previous leadership/management experience desired.Thrives in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented atmosphere.Must have a ?whatever-it-takes? attitude.Able to make individual contributions while staying focused on the goals of the team.
