Process Molding Engineer

Automotive business unit of a $500M privately held manufacturer headquartered in the Midwest seeks a Process Molding Engineer.With revenues over $330M, the automotive business is a leader in its industry.  Products include value-added injection molded plastic products requiring molding, plating, painting, various other decorating processes, and assembly operations.  Manufacturing and distribution facilities are located throughout the United States and Asia.

 

POSITION

 

The Process Engineer will have overall responsibility of designing and implementing manufacturing processes and equipment.  The position reports directly to the Director of Product Engineering. RESPONSIBILITIES

 Is the primary provider for all process engineering technical support to production units in order to address and resolve any system, process, or mechanical issues that cause efficiency loss.Provide process support to plant engineering activities involving preparation and execution of detailed engineering projects.Design improvements to relating to capacity, efficiency, process safety, and environmental performance.Able to track improvements and savings of the plants? Six Sigma projects and must have Black Belt knowledge in order to aid the plants? leaders when needed.Ability to work with support teams to monitor unit operations, correct problems, and assist in improvements for special problems or projects.Take a leadership role in identifying root cause of problems found, develop solutions and implement changes for problems as they arise from prototype to production builds.

REQUIREMENTS

 Leadership Style: Self-starter must be able to work with little direction and with high level of self-motivation. Must be able to work on own initiative and work well in a group.Strong knowledge of plastic injection molding part design and tooling.Well-organized project management skills, program management background a plus.Experience with Six Sigma methodology, Black Belt preferred.Knowledge of process design, instrumentation, process control, and statistics.Strong verbal and written communication skills a must.  BS in Engineering or other technical degree required. Qualified candidates will have 5-8 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
