Position Responsibilities:  These positions will be responsible for developing, writing, and reviewing procurement specifications, installation specifications or general fabrication specifications for process equipment associated with nuclear fuel fabrication.  Specification assignments could include development of design-build specifications for design and manufacture of equipment by others, product procurement or fabrication specifications, technical specifications for fabrication of equipment designed by DCS, and installation specifications for custom fabricated equipment.  Personnel will interface with multiple organizations within DCS in preparation of specifications including the Manufacturing Design Group, Software Design Group, Facility Design Group, Operations and Construction.  The position will evolve into a follow-on technical support to the procurement process as Request for Proposals are released for design-build and fabrication services.  In this role as the Technical Representative of the Engineering Group supporting the procurement process, assigned individuals will be the single point of contact within the Equipment Group of the Engineering Department for interfacing with subcontractors to resolve technical issues, evaluate progress, and monitor adequacy of technical performance (extent of role is dependent on the work scope of the subcontract).  In this role, individuals will interact daily with the Procurement Subcontract Administrator, the subcontractor assigned technical representative and other organizations within DCS.  Facilitating, tracking and reporting status of open request, issues and needs will be a major function as the Technical Representative.


 


Required Qualifications:  Degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent combination of education and years of experience.  Eight (8) or more years of technical process, manufacturing, or fabrication experience.  Above average written and oral communications skills and organizational skills.  Demonstrated success in managing subcontract work or projects in the size range of $1.0M to $5.0M.  Possesses self-start initiative and a positive teamwork attitude toward execution of assignments.  Competent in the use of personal computers using common workplace software applications associated with Microsoft Office. 


 


Desired Qualifications:  Experience working in the nuclear field related to DOE nuclear facilities, commercial fuel fabrication facilities or commercial nuclear power facilities.  Familiarization with QA provisions typically applied to work performed for work involved with the nuclear industry.  Experience working projects that utilize Premivera P3 scheduling application.  Past experience involved with procurement engineering, and development of product, design-build or fabrication related specifications.  Functioned as technical representative with subcontractors on major equipment purchases.
