1. Maintain complete and accurate product configuration data. This is data for systems that PGA Fridley uses to do the following:
a. Support customers' selection of valid and compatible product models and features
b. Assemble bills of material (BOMs) for subsequent orders
c. Pass the configuration data to the Oracle MRP Order Entry and Manufacturing systems
2. Participate on product VPI and VPC project teams:
a. Ensure that product configuration data milestones and tasks are properly planned
b. Help the team anticipate, understand and resolve product configuration issues
c. Help the team develop and document input required to maintain complete and correct product configuration data
3. Participate as an expert core team member on IT project teams:
a. Solve problems with existing systems
b. Provide ideas, input and justification for system improvements
c. Develop and implement system upgrades, replacements and additions
4. Plan and manage personal work-load and activities to meet project timeliness and accuracy goals
5. Plan, coordinate, oversee and assist the work of other department personnel to help them meet their project timeliness and accuracy goals
6. Teach others how to use product configuration data, tools and processes
7. Develop and lead department initiatives to define, document, measure and improve processes and tools used to maintain product configuration data
SKILLS - FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL:
Knows what generator sets and transfer switches are, and at least enough about how they are built and work to understand configuration requirements and constraints.
Knows how PGG structures and sells generator sets and transfer switches ' concepts of models, features, parts, compatibilities, etc.
Knows how the PGG product configuration application configures customer orders, how it interfaces with PGG MRP systems, and how the MRP systems manage the order cycle
Can access and read engineering drawings
Can develop, get data from, and maintain data in MS Excel spreadsheets and MS Access databases
Can navigate in the PGG product configuration User Interface to test configuration data
Can find items, bills of material and Engineering Change Orders in the PGF MRP application system (GIEA) with six sigma level accuracy
Can use Lotus Notes e-mail to communicate with team members and others
Prior experience with the PGG PowerCom/SPC application and the PGG Configuration Design Data database is a plus.

Education:
Bachelor degree in Engineering, Configuration Management, Information Systems, or related equivalent
6 to 10 years experience with product design, configuration management and/or associated computer applications in a related field.
