Product Development Manager

The world?s largest supplier of martial arts and fitness products is seeking an engineering professional with progressive experience in the design and development of consumer products. This position is responsible for the development of sporting goods products, primarily in the fields of martial arts and boxing.  Works closely with other designers to develop product ideas and coordinates with the quality assurance group throughout the life cycle of a product.  Responsible for providing solutions for product improvements and product cost reductions. 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS BS in Mechanical Engineering, Product or Industrial Design or 5 yrs additional experience in lieu of degree.  Management experience preferred.5 to 10 years experience in consumer product development (preferably sporting goods). Solid command of current manufacturing and production methods, design for manufacturing & assembly practices, design testing and quality assurance.Experienced in the use of Solid works & all MS Office applications.Experience with steel fabrication, plastics fabrication (blowmolding / injection molding) and/or foam fabrication processes preferred.Experience working with overseas manufacturers.Ability to solve design problems and engineering documentation skills required. Ability to build physical prototypes a plus.Must possess proven ability to take product from concept to production.Knowledge of both hard goods and soft goods manufacturing and understanding of Patent law.Must be highly motivated, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a product development team.Knowledge of martial arts and fitness products either through sports participation or career experience is a plus.
