Qualifications:

Must have a minimum of a Bachelor?s degree, preferably in Engineering.

Minimum of 8 years related work experience.

Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.

Must have the proven ability to deliver products on time with acceptable quality.

Must be creative and be able to deploy innovative ideas and concepts.

Should have experience in process and product development of synthetic fibers with expertise in melt spinning, drawing and heat-treating. 

Should have previous experience demonstrating leadership in identifying and developing innovated products.

Ability to participate and provide leadership on multi-disciplined new product development teams.

Should be a hands-on type of individual and be an out of the box thinker.  Must be self-motivated an dbe performance driven.

Someone with a good mixture of the technical experience and business experience would be ideal.  Mixture of chemistry/polymer/process experience would be great.

 

Responsibilities:

Directs the development of new product ideas, including the study and evaluation of their potential and practicality.

Coordinates the initial stages of new product development, as well as modifications or design changes to existing product lines.

Recommends new products; directs development of approved ideas into new products.

Directs the compilation of supporting data on market opportunities for new products.

Develops criteria to be used in screening new product ideas for potential and practicality.

Develops estimates of necessary capital expenditures and manufacturing costs.

Provides cost data on new and improved products.

 Ensures that the product is market-tested and that a suitable introduction program is devised and executed.

Provides technical assessment of product failures.

Establish and maintain a partnership with suppliers to allow the exchange of technical knowledge to help meet research objectives.

Establishes and maintains adequate records of formula, process methods, and product construction standards.

Conducts testing pilot runs of new or improved products and investigates consumer complaints of existing products.

Organizes field tests for new products.
