Product Quality Engineer

Perform Product Quality engineering assignments that involve HVAC compressor product design, testing, specifications, and quality issues.
Responsibilities include:
?h Track compressor failures from all user plants. Work with both the compressor and unit manufacturing sites to resolve issues.
?h Lead the investigation of all field failure compressors. Document and report failure reason(s) to customers and suppliers as required.
?h Review both internal and external quality issues. Work with other functional organizations as required to identify and correct the root cause of the problem.
?h Lead and support projects that resolve product quality, reliability and performance issues.
?h Identify and document significant quality improvement projects based on quality problems have been identified through prior investigations.
?h Review and approve supplier PPAPs to ensure new or revised parts and processes will consistently meet Trane requirements.
?h Work in conjunction with Manufacturing and Design engineering teams to ensure historical quality, reliability and performance issues are identified and addressed in new product and component design.
?h Determine and document acceptance criteria for non-conforming material and processes.
?h Ensure manufactured product complies with applicable design and test codes.

Qualifications

?h Bachelor??s degree in engineering or directly related engineering discipline required.
?h Minimum of 5 years experience in Manufacturing, Quality, or Design Engineering.
?h Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
?h Solid computer and presentation skills.
?h Strong verbal and written communication skills.
?h Able to apply mechanical and electrical theory to solve problems.
?h Project management experience preferred.
?h Six Sigma Green Belt certification and tool proficiency required. Black Belt preferred.
?h Strong understanding of quality metrology principles and techniques.
?h Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to domestic and international locations.
