Product Specialist

Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group):
Management and support for the Fiber Optic Hardware (FOH) product line in all activities related but not limited to Commercial Marketing, Customer Service, Technology, and Manufacturing.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

1 Develop and Execute the Long-Term Business Plan for assigned product families and customer segments
2 Manage assigned product life cycle from development to introduction to maturity to phase-out.
3 Act as a technical resource providing specific product information for customer service and the regional commercial groups.
4 Assist in the identification of cost reductions and other manufacturing improvements for assigned product families
5 Develop and monitor financial and non-financial metrics to determine overall health of assigned product families
6 Interact with the individual geographic commercial groups
7 Develop a pricing strategy across all markets and regions that achieves profitability objectives
8 With input from commercial marketing groups, provide consolidated forecasts to product line manager for submittal to forecasting groups.
9 Assist the commercial groups in the preparation of quotations and contracts with respect to the technical nature of the products quoted.
10 Participation as part of the FOH Business Team and the development of business plans.

Travel Requirements (please note if international):
20%, but up to 50% on occasions, including some international travel to Corning manufacturing facilities

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
8:00 am to 5:00 pmREQUIREMENTS

Required Skills
1. Proven ability to self-manage and prioritize multiple tasks in an efficient, focused manner
2. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
3. Excellent presentation skills to all levels of the organization.
4. Thorough knowledge of manufacturing operations
5. Ability to work within a matrix organization
6. Identification and resolution of issues related but not limited to design, process, and assembly
7. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point as well as Lotus Notes.
8. Must be fluent in English both written and oral.

Desired Skills
1. Knowledge of Corning?s fiber optic hardware and optical components products
2. Experience with forecasting and forecasting systems.
3. Creation and maintenance of customer related literature.
4. Experience dealing with customers and markets outside of the US. Namely, the EU, Japan, and China.

Education and Experience
1. Bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience
2. 1-3 years experience preferred in a product management, product development, market management, or engineering within telecommunications or related industry
