There are currently two open positions at our Freeport, Texas site; both positions for qualified Production Engineers.? The Production Engineering role acts as a technical resource for Operations personnel by applying technical skills, managing production, optimizing plant operations, resolving plant problems, and enabling the production of low cost and quality products.?

Each position is outlined briefly below:
(1) Production Engineer for the Oxychlorination and Ecology areas within the Oyster Creek plant in Freeport, TX .? TheProduction Engineer for Oxychlorination, the identified candidate will be responsible for two oxy reactor trains that are the two largest consumers of HCl for the Texas Operations Site.? In addition to the oxy process, the identified candidate will also be responsible for the operation of thermal treatment units used to incinerate process vents within the unit.
(2) Production Engineer role of two continuous amines plants - This particular position offers a unique opportunity in terms of customer interaction, teamwork, and interpersonal effectiveness.? One of the plants is owned by Dow and the other is owned by Huntsman, per a divestiture required to complete the Dow Chemical/Union Carbide merger.? The Production Engineer has weekly/monthly interaction with Huntsman personnel to provide updates and address and question or concerns on production, quality, cost, maintenance, etc.? Will work in the PGA/APG departments which consist of multiple batch reactors and finishing trains for the Polyglycol & Surfactants business.? The manufacturing organization consists of about 30 people.

Primary Responsibilities Include
--Understand the process technology, equipment, and control strategies for all operations of the plant.?
--Become a technical expert (SME) for assigned areas which include chemistry, process control, piping, equipment, instrumentation, and analytical.
--Visibly demonstrate a commitment to EH&S performance by following the MOC process, conducting/participating in Root Cause Investigations (RCI) with appropriate follow-up and corrective actions, improving process control code, and participating in block safety program (BBP, Leakbusters,etc.)
--Work with the various Operations personnel and teams to ensure that the Plant and Business goals for Asset Utilization/Capability, First Pass Prime, Yield, Waste Reduction, Energy Reduction, LOPC Reduction, etc., are met.
--Assist the Technicians and Operators in advanced troubleshooting and coach them how to use these skills.? Know how their areas of the plant are running and ensure appropriate actions are taken to improve performance when needed.? This will include documentation of plans, communication of plans to all affected personnel, and follow up on execution of the plan at appropriate intervals.
--Document key things learned from process upsets and near misses in appropriate troubleshooting guides and procedures to provide subsequent training to the Operators and Technicians.? Maintain existing technical procedures and documents in the file server.? If applicable, leverage learning experiences and best practices to the Business/site.
--Prevent repeat EH&S, Quality, or Productivity incidents by conduction and participating in RCIs when triggers are reached and completing corrective actions on time.? Normally, the Production ----Engineer will take the lead in conducting the Productivity related RCIs.
--Work with the plant, TS&D, business, and logistics to resolve quality issues and QM's for assigned areas in a timely manner.
--Work with the Supply Chain to ensure the plant can meet the production plan.? Be proactive in communicating planned shutdowns in order to minimize customer impact.
--Utilize key operations and plant work process tools such as Logbook, Master Task List, Event and Action Tool, and Opportunity Tracking System for proper communication, documentation, and tracking purposes.
Job Information
Prefer?3-5 years of manufacturing background; Strong technical, interpersonal, and problem solving skills are required to be successful in this job.
The jobs have a standard 5 day per week work schedule; however the need for technical support after hours may be required.
The will be minimal to zero travel required for these positions.
Qualifications
BS in Engineering or Sciences is required; Mechanical or Chemical Engineer preferred
A Six Sigma Green Belt Project Leader, someone with Black Belt certification, or someone with commitment to obtain these certifications is desired.
