PROJECT ENGINEER

General Description:
The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for directing engineering and technical resources to meet project requirements. The PE is the interface responsible for executing the technical needs of a specific project on behalf of the Project Manager and the Customer, while also representing the Director of Engineering in maintaining the quality and integrity of the Company?s core technologies and practices. The project engineering position serves as a mechanism to relieve the healthy ?tension? that exists in the sometimes conflicting interests of the project and the engineering department.

The PE will perform the full scope of project management and project engineering activities on engineering-only projects, including internal R&D projects. As available, the PE will also assist with estimating, preliminary engineering and other services in support of marketing and project development. When not performing project work or marketing support, the PE reports functionally to a Director of Engineering as a staff engineer.

Specific Responsibilities:
? Establish project technical technical requirements, including design basis documents.
? Direct implementation of the technical work according to project schedules and budgets.
? Develop and maintain reports and other documentation that support the information requirements of the Customer, Project Manager and executive management of the Company.
? Assist in developing engineering manhour estimates for proposal and contract activity.
? Ensure that all work and information generated from the Company meet the project requirements while also meeting the quality standards and policies of the Company.
? Assist in the development of technical policies and procedures for each departmental and project activites regarding supervision, scheduling, communication, review/approvals and other coordination issues that must be addressed within the technical department.
? Personnel supervision and direction to provide for the needs of the project utilizing company resources productively and efficiently.
? Represent the final engineering review and check point prior to release of project technical documentation.
? Cultivate and maintain excellent relations with Customer and related project stakeholders.
? Resolve potential conflicts between project needs and functional department activites.
? In conflict resolution, strive for the solution which results in the best tradeoff between meeting the needs of the Customer and maximizing benefit to the Company.
? On engineering-only projects, act as Project Manager and will act as primary interface with Customer and related project stakeholders.
? Assist Marketing and Project Development functions with estimating, preliminary engineering or other technical support required.

Qualifications:
? B.S. degree in engineering from an accredited, 4 year college.
? Minimum 5 years work experience as a process or mechanical engineer, with at least 2 years experience in project engineering or similar position.
? Working knowledge of state and federal regulations and requirements applicable to major design and construction projects.
? Excellent speaking, writing and organizational skills.
? Demonstrated ability to develop high level management control programs.
? Computer proficiency sufficient to generate cost and schedule reports with Company?s preferred software programs.
? Personal characteristics and attitude conducive for maintaining harmonious internal relations and excellent client relations.
? Willing to travel in support of sales, project development, contract and customer operations.
