Quality Assurance Engineer

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

 

Develops, promotes, implements, and maintains various Quality Engineering techniques for process and product quality improvements.  The quality engineering techniques used most frequently are those related to preventive action and statistical decision-making.

 SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

A) Uses various statistical analysis tools to monitor data from existing in-process and final test measurement processes, and identifies needs for corrective action or opportunities for process and product improvements.  Reports findings and observations in various reporting formats.

 

B) Develops and maintains statistical quality control systems for in-process and final test measurement processes.  Interfaces with IT and Engineering personnel, as necessary, to ensure development of adequate database requirements for the statistical quality control system.  Searches for and promotes improved statistical quality control systems.

 

C) Develops and maintains an effective corrective and preventive action procedure.  Conducts internal audits to ensure continuing suitability of the corrective and preventive action procedure, and establishes a suitable format for reporting the effectiveness of corrective and preventive action processes to management review.  Conducts and/or promotes the training of personnel in corrective and preventive action techniques.  Identifies opportunities for improvement in such training.

 

D) Assists in executing the internal audit program by auditing quality system processes that are of a technical nature.  Examples include product development, process measurement, IT system management, and problem solving processes.

 

E) Leads and/or participates in continuous improvement teams as organized by management.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

A) Minimum of four years of product development experience, preferably within the data networking industry, with specific experience or knowledge of products and applications of Twisted-Pair Cables with an emphasis on LAN networks.

 

B)  Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

 

C)  Proven track record in the design and manufacture of LAN cable products.  Demonstrated Ability to work in cross-functional, multicultural team environment and to understand and apply technical concepts.

 

D) Functional knowledge of electronic test equipment used in the development and production of LAN cable products.

 

E) Ability to utilize experience and judgment in order to plan and accomplish goals.  A wide degree of creativity and latitude is afforded with little reliance on direct supervision.

 

F) Solid experience in statistical principals, software programming and tools, product development processes, verification and validation techniques.
